Inspired by the breathtaking architectural wonder of Incan stonework found in Peru, especially in the Cuzco region. The shape of the earrings nods to the iconic trapezoidal windows and doorways used throughout their structures and sacred sites. The Incas had a special relationship and respect for stone which came from the surrounding Apus (mountains) which they viewed (and still do) as sacred. They sourced whatever stone naturally occured in the area where they were built and used no mortar or even wheels to build and transport the stone. The join between the stones are so tight and precise that not even a needle fits between them.
I’ve been blessed to have visited Cuzco several times in my life and each time I’m overwhelemed with pride and awe as if it’s my first visit, and to know that somewhere in my dna, I am related to this magnificence.
Each earrings is hand stamped. No pattern is used making each one different in detail.
